The Internet
Education Foundation (IEF) is a 501(c)(3)
non-profit organization dedicated to educating the public and policymakers
about the potential of a decentralized, global Internet to promote democracy,
communications, and commerce. It¹s Board of Directors includes
representatives from AOL Time Warner,
AT&T, the Center for Democracy
& Technology, Civil Rights Forum on Communications Policy, the Freedom to Read Foundation, IBM, Microsoft, the Institute for Policy innovation, People for the American Way,
the Progress & Freedom Foundation, the Recording Industry Association
of America, VeriSign , Verizon, Viviendi/Universal and the World Wide Web Consortium.
Its staff includes President Jerry Berman and staff counsel Tim Lordan.
IEF provides the funding and logistical support for the Congressional
Internet Caucus Advisory Committee and has spearheaded the 'GetNetWise'
industry-wide family empowerment effort.
