⚡Lightning Talk Proposals Are Open! New: People’s Choice awards 🔥
Tech Policymakers Need Your Talks!
State of the Net will again feature “lightning talks” when it returns February 9, 2027. Lightning talks have become one of the most popular features of the conference — short, dynamic presentations that showcase fresh perspectives in tech policy. If you have a compelling idea, research insight, or policy takeaway to share, please submit a Lightning Talk proposal. These five-minute presentations bring new voices into the conversation and spotlight innovative thinking across the Internet policy landscape.
NEW THIS YEAR: PEOPLE’S CHOICE!
New! Submit your Lightning Talk proposal by Thursday, November 19, and you can opt to participate in our inaugural People’s Choice selection process.
A selection committee will identify finalists whose proposals will be put to a public vote. Finalists will have the opportunity to rally their networks and build support for their ideas. The winning proposal will earn a speaking slot at State of the Net 2027!
People’s Choice deadline: November 19, 2026
Final deadline for all Lightning Talk proposals: December 1, 2026 COB.
Successful proposals will inform and inspire policymakers working on technology issues in Congress, state legislatures, and international governance fora.
Use the submission form below to send in your proposal.
Last year’s lightning talks explored a wide range of emerging issues, from AI agents and cybersecurity to the future of the open web, digital privacy, AI-driven job displacement, and next-generation wireless networks.
